Access
Access is about you being able to move around your home environment safely, often with the need to move between two different levels. Consider the removal of high door steps or threshold strips, or moving between levels with the use of home lifts or stair lifts. Widening door openings also falls within this category.
Access issues are not only restricted to inside the home as it is important for people to access their community and continue with their daily lives. Ramps, shallow steps or external platform lifts are some of the solutions Steinwall can assist you with.
Bathrooms
The need to access bathing facilities is paramount and we understand that getting into and out of a bath can present enormous challenges to those with restricted mobility. Adapting a bathroom is more than just converting the ‘old’ into ‘new’ – or at least this is how we feel at Steinwall. We spend time listening to our clients needs & desires and then deliver them, knowing that your bathroom is another important room in your home and not just a ‘hospital-like’ medical place to shower.

Extensions
On occasions, it is simply not possible to adapt a home within the existing footprint to ensure needs are fully met. There is the option to relocate, but as you can imagine this is not always feasible or desirable by the end user. A solution to this is to increase the space by building an extension. Our Surveyor will work with you to get an understanding of your requirements and design a scheme accordingly, including Technical Drawings and Schedule of Works. They will also be able to deal with all statutory matters – such as Planning Approval or Building Control Approval.

Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG)
Non-Agency Funding
A DFG applicant is not obligated to use the services of the Local Authority who have/will have approved the grant. The applicant has the choice to manage the process themselves and can appoint a Surveyor and Builder of their choice to develop a proposed scheme.

Self Funding
You may have the means to fund the proposed works directly (without the need for Grant assistance). This is the route for adaptations and home improvement work that offers the most flexibility and choice.
